After the WWI Armistice Lloyd Hart (Jeffrey Lynn) goes back to practice law, former saloon keeper George Hally (Humphrey Bogart) turns to bootlegging, and out-of-work Eddie Bartlett (James Cagney) becomes a cab driver. Eddie builds a fleet of cabs through delivery of bootleg liquor and hires Lloyd as his lawyer. George becomes Eddie’s partner and the rackets flourish until love and rivalry interfere.

Up until now, our programme has always been presented via the medium of DVD or Blu-ray, but since Covid we’ve noticed that the increasing popularity of streaming means that some films are now only available as downloads.

We do have the capability to show downloads, but this will be the first time our main feature has been sourced this way.

Obviously we’ll try to avoid too many blunders, but the process is different to just pressing the play button like we usually do (and we sometimes can’t even manage to do that properly) so please be patient.

We’ve tested our systems, it does seem to work and hopefully, everything will be alright on the night, but just in case it isn’t, we may have to alter the programme.
